Cruising down the highway

Andy finished his second week of work in Denver with my dad. He's really enjoying it and hoping it's a lasting job, but we'll just have to wait and see. They boys and I had a fun week filled with a bit of school then we visited my dad's office where they got a tour and went out to lunch at the Bass Pro Shop nearby which was amazing with the aquariums and stuffed animals and fish everywhere. The boys and I also got quite the haircut, but that's an entry unto itself so it will have to wait tonight.

Last weekend, when we were in COS we went junkin' (to garage sales) and to the flea market and the boys had the best time. The got some great Lego kits and then an amazing find of about 600 Pokemon cards for $10 at the flea market. They added these to the binder full they got from Uncle George. I don't think they'll ever need to buy anymore Pokemon cards, but they seem to feel otherwise. We'll see where that leads. They are going to try to sell some on ebay when we return home so that will be an interesting lesson. We were also able to spend one more night with Andy's dad and family this weekend before we headed out of town. We went hiking in Red Rock Canyon (near Garden of the Gods) which was beautiful.

We drove out of COS yesterday and made it to Cheyenne, WY. It was almost 9 when we arrived and we didn't know where to stay so we pulled into a Flying J Truck stop and camped between all the truckers for the night. It was quite noisy, but nothing so bad that a few ear plugs couldn't take care of. I woke up at 6 and pulled out of there. We had a great day travelling through the Black Hills. Our first stop was Jewel Cave where we went for a one hour and 20 minute hike below ground. We all found it amazing and beautiful. Next, we went to Mt Rushmore which was nothing like Andy and I remembered it from 15 years ago. The rock looked the same, but they have a path now that allows you to get so much closer. It was hot there and some whining ensued when we started the hike, but it was nothing a little ice cream bribery couldn't fix. After leaving leaving Rushmore we pulled over again just 10 minutes down the road in the cute little town of Keystone (wish we could have stayed here longer). We spotted and alpine slide and I couldn't resist. It was so fun!! I wish we would have had time for more rides.

We are now in Spearfish, SD at a great little RV park. The boys got to swim after we had hot dogs for dinner. We have a wireless internet connection, but can't get reception on our cell phones! We're planning on driving to Cody, WY tomorrow and camping then heading through Yellowstone on Tues before we drive to Spokane.

What a fascinating life you lead. It would be so much fun to travel the way you are.
