After five years of trying to grow a watermelon this turned out to be THE year. Each year we did get a little further along in the process to include a full fledged watermelon last year, but it never ripened. This year we not only got one watermelon, but 4, all over 20 pounds each! The first one wasn't ripe enough to eat, but this one was delicious. We picked the others two days ago (thank goodness since we woke to a winter wonderland this morning) but we haven't cut them open yet to see if they are a beautiful pink/red inside.
